Khaled took part in two aircraft hijackings — TWA Flight 840 in 1969 (diverted and later destroyed empty, no injuries) and an attempted hijacking of El Al Flight 219 in 1970, during which her accomplice was killed and she was captured before being released in a prisoner exchange.
